QR codes
Why does the site say my QR link looks wrong?
Answer
Barcode Rocket checks the link you type for a QR code and warns you when it is missing, looks broken (for example "htps://") or is not a link at all. Fix the link, then test it with your phone before you print.
The three warnings
| You see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Add the link for your QR code: the page readers open when they scan it. | Connect QR needs a link and the field is empty. | Type the page readers should open. |
| This link looks broken. Check it before you print. | The link has a typo, for example htps:// or a space. | Fix it. |
| This does not look like a link. Readers will see it as plain text. | Shown for the Connect QR link: what you typed has no web address in it. | Type a full link, for example https://yourbook.com. If you really want text, check it reads well. |
How to test the link
- Copy the link into your phone's browser and check that the right page opens.
- After you download, open the PDF on your screen and scan it with your phone camera.
- Before the whole run is printed, scan a printed proof.
Why it matters
A printed QR code cannot be changed. If the link is wrong, every copy of the book carries a code that leads nowhere. Using a link you control, such as your own website, lets you change where it leads later without reprinting.
